Are there any snackers out there?
I’m a snacker too, so you’re in good company. ;)
Actually, little meals are my mainstay…each day I generally eat about five to six times: three small meals and two snack-type meals. I’ve noticed that this keeps me happy and energized all day long.
For the most part, I try to choose healthy, fairly well-balanced snacks (that way when the weekend rolls around, there’s room for a little indulgence). Here are a few of my favorites (feel free to share your favorites in the comments):
1) A piece of fruit and a small handful of nuts or a spoonful of peanut butter.
2) Yogurt topped with berries, a sprinkle of your favorite granola, and a drizzle of honey.
3) Sliced apple and sharp cheddar.
4) Mixed seeds and nuts. (Mike’s favorite. ;) )
5) A couple of dates filled with cream cheese or peanut butter.
6) Protein-rich puddings, like Eggnog Pudding (yup, I eat this year-round).
7) A couple of hard-boiled eggs.
8) A healthier version of deviled eggs: 2 hard-boiled egg whites filled with the following mixture: 1 egg yolk, 1 tablespoon yogurt, 1 teaspoon mayo, 1 teaspoon mustard, a dash of Worcestershire, a dash of hot sauce, a pinch of onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika (or any spices you like), any herbs you like, and salt and pepper to taste.
9) A one-egg omelet stuffed with veggies.
10) Raw veggies with hummus, ricotta cheese, or peanut butter for dipping.
11) A fruit or veggie smoothie.
12) “Raw” sweet treats, like Cheesecake, Brownie Batter, or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
13) Cottage cheese with fruit. (My bff likes to top her cottage cheese with things like pineapple, peaches, or blueberries, but I’m really not a fan of sweet things in my cottage cheese. Savory I can do though; I love cottage cheese topped with cherry tomatoes and scallions or chives.)
14) A small handful of raw nuts mixed with half a handful of dried fruit and a sprinkle of dark chocolate chips.
15) Skinny Caramel Hot Cocoa and a small handful of raw nuts.
16) Sliced deli turkey or cheese rolled up with mustard, lettuce, tomato, and onion (or any veggies you like!).
17) A handful of Sweet & Spicy Roasted Nuts.
18) Popcorn made with coconut oil and sprinkled with sea salt.
19) A quick “baked” apple – core and chop an apple, drizzle on a little honey, sprinkle on some cinnamon, and then microwave until warm.
20) A piece of dark chocolate with a small handful of raw nuts.
21) Healthy muffins, like Honey-Nut Banana Muffins.

Some super snack ideas, Faith. My favorite is pecans and almonds mixed with dried cranberries, blueberries and cherries.
I’m always looking for new snacks to energize me after work so that I can hit the gym and these sound awesome! definitely going to work my way through this list!

Great list, Faith—this is one that they should use in schools to promote healthy snacks for kids instead of chips and candy!
You are opening my eyes to some new ideas for snacks. I like to take something healthy to school, if I get a chance, to take a bite.
My favorite is snack is chickpeas right out of the container.

I’m a snacker too :) big meals are great but I like little snacks throughout the day! I love how your snacks are all so healthy and YUMMY Faith! I love Almonds nut hehe my go to snack all the time and cut cucumbers with a little bit of hummus dip :D
Those are great snack ideas! I just had some pineapple and cottage cheese and sometimes I have an apple with Laughing Cow cheese and cinnamon on them. I’ll be trying out some of your ideas too!

I think you hit all my favorites too! I really can\’t think of anything else to add. I most often have a hard boiled egg with taco sauce (I take them to work with leftover taco bell packets b/c it\’s easer than trying to wrap some salt up in a twist of plastic wrap-lol), or a piece of fruit with cheese (apples and cheddar are my fave!). Love all your ideas and how you always include some protein and carbohydrates-that\’s great for keeping your blood sugar stabilized!
I found some raw pb “cookie” balls the other day…looked really good!
I am a snacker – big time. You listed most of my go-to-snacks. I also love smoothies,2 slices of turkey wrapped in lettuce and toasted seaweed!

Excellent suggestions! I like to graze all day if I possibly can, since that keeps me sated and happy through hours of work. I’m quite partial to the standard hummus and veg myself, but new ideas are always welcome. :)

great ideas. i used to eat peanut butter all the time but as soon as i tapered it to just one every two weeks, i noticed that i lost weight. i was also eating about 8 eggs per week — too much for my petite body. i was having an issue with moderation so i had to let it all go. popcorn is still in my pantry, but just not popped as often!
