It’s the weirdest thing ever.
I don’t eat doughnuts (or donuts) all year long until autumn rolls around. (more…)
Cinnamon buns are right up there with bagels for me as far as favorite special occasion breakfasts go.
Bagels are a rare treat (made even rarer by the fact that in Kuwait it isn’t nearly as easy to find a decent quality bagel as it is in New York). But ironically (because there’s a Cinnabon that’s just a two-minute walk from where we live), cinnamon buns are an even more rare treat. (more…)
I’m sure this happens to you too. Every once in a while I think of an idea that is so simple, so right in front of my eyes, it astounds me that I didn’t think of it sooner.
Like my Stuffed Mushroom Casserole, which I could talk about for an hour nonstop. But I’ll stay focused.
This Butternut Butterscotch Latte is also the perfect example.
You could think of it as the cousin to the Pumpkin Spice Latte…but the cool cousin. The one who moved away to the big city and does raw juice diets three times a year and practices yoga every day. (more…)
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! For me, this weekend flew by even faster than they normally do. That’s what happens when you try to cram a ton of stuff into just two days!
Here’s what’s going on… (more…)
When I was dreaming up this cake I had a decadent chocolate cake in mind.
Something really indulgent…sinful, even.
Then I looked in my fridge and found three pretty zucchinis that needed to be used up (even despite making a few zucchini recipes lately, like Roasted Vegetable Crustless Quiche with Basil & Pine Nuts and Cinnamon + Nutmeg Zucchini “Applesauce”).
Seeing the zucchini I got an idea and I knew sinful would have to wait. (more…)
Are you getting to the point where you’re starting to have a little too much zucchini on hand? If you’re not there yet, you probably will be soon…
If you’re a gardener, maybe you’ve already dropped off a bag (or two) at a neighbor’s house…or maybe you’ve been the recipient of a bag or two from a neighbor who gardens. Or maybe you heard the doorbell ring early one random evening only to get to the front door and find a gigantic bag of zucchini looking up at you, which might as well have sprouted legs and walked there itself because there wasn’t a trace of anyone in sight. (True story.)
There are definitely worse things than fly-by-night zucchini drive-bys though. (more…)
As I type this post, even with the aroma of cinnamon bread swirling around me, my mind is completely somewhere else.
I’m thinking about hiking, beautiful mountain views, and pristine forests. Swimming and biking. Quaint little towns and cozy cafés. Buying fresh food every day and cooking it that night in the country kitchen of the luxury, fully-renovated 1800’s farmhouse where we’re staying in the Adirondacks this week. (My kitchen at home is anything but luxurious, so that might be what I am most excited about!)
We are leaving tomorrow for a little mini vacation, and I’m thrilled. It’s been far too long since I’ve been to the Adirondacks and Mike has never been, so we’re planning on making the most of it. (more…)
So, granola. I won’t even try to sell you on it because I know you’re probably already a fan. And if you are, you will probably be interested in my Pumpkin Spice Granola, which is one of my all-time favs.
And if you’re not, I’d say avert your eyes or X out of this window…but I’m not going to say that because this granola is so unlike a traditional granola that you might just like it. (more…)
