Being a food blogger means that I rarely get to make the same dish twice, even if it’s a dish that I really love. (Because a dish made and not photographed for the blog is a wasted dish. Sigh. That is, in fact, the twisted reality of a food blogger, lol.) But those rare “wasted” meals when I get to sneak in a favorite recipe a second – or third – time are pure bliss. (more…)

Brown Sugar Pumpkin Soup

DSC_5195(small)Among the many reasons I adore Wegmans is their soup bar. Their store-bought soups actually taste homemade. (For the most part anyway…the one soup I don’t like is their Chicken and Dumpling. The dumplings used to be really fluffy and tender, but they changed the recipe and now they’re heavy and mealy with a very potato-like taste and texture. I never get that soup anymore…Wegmans if you’re reading, please bring back the previous Chicken and Dumpling!).

Back to the soups I do like. Shrimp Bisque, Spicy Tomato with Orzo, Broccoli Cheddar, and Italian Wedding (which is made with beef meatballs instead of pork!), to name a few. And the queen of all delicious soups, their Brown Sugar Pumpkin Bisque. (more…)

Creamy Fava-Dill Soup

I just realized how pretty fresh dill is.  :) 

I know we’re getting to the tail end of soup season (in the Northern Hemisphere, anyway), but I just had to share this one.  I made it a couple months ago when I made my first beer bread (Cheddar-Dill Beer Bread) and it was an instant favorite in my house.  (We love creamy soups, especially ones with cabbage…this soup and my Cabbage, White Bean, & Sausage Soup are proof of that.) I know I’ve mentioned it here before, but I was a strange child (I know that’s pretty open for interpretation, but I’m mostly talking about my tastes in food, lol!).  I hated foods I should have loved (tomato soup, for example), and loved things that most kids abhor (like beets).  I know what you’re thinking…what kind of kid hates tomato soup and likes beets?!
