Roasted Cauliflower and Pearl Barley Bowls with Creamy Tahini-Dill Dressing

Who doesn’t like a good party, right? Friends, fun, food. There’s nothing not to love.

Now, as a food blogger it probably comes as no surprise that I love bringing a dish to pass to a party. I usually have plenty of ideas on what will go over well. (Sports-centric = guy food, holidays = indulgence, and summer potluck = light and fresh!)

Blue Cheese, Chicken, and Cauliflower Skillet with Bacon, Walnut, and Date Topping

Blue Cheese, Chicken, and Cauliflower Skillet with Bacon, Walnut, and Date Topping

I go through phases when I just don’t feel like cooking. At all. Sometimes, if I’m really burned out, the better part of a week will go by before I feel inspired to cook. That’s when Mike gets to do one of his favorite things: live off the food from the Pakistani restaurant a block from where we live. It’s a windfall for him and a win for me too since I get a much-needed break and time to recharge....

Green Pea, Baby Potato, and Cauliflower Curry

Green Pea, Baby Potato, and Cauliflower Curry

When it comes to Indian spice mixes, I have to admit that curry powder typically isn’t on my list of favorites; instead, garam masala spice mix is my much-preferred go-to. (Garam masala makes a perfect dish of Lamb Tikka Masala or Dal Makhani/Butter Lentils!)...

How does your family do Thanksgiving dinner? Pot luck-style with everyone bringing a dish to pass? Or maybe the person hosting makes everything and someone else hosts the next holiday? In my family, dinner is always at my mom’s house, and she and I make everything together (except for the turkey, which my mom brines and my dad roasts). We like to have an assortment of sides to please everyone because everyone has a different favorite. And it seems like there is always at least one person who is on a new diet or who found out that they are intolerant to something, and we […]...

Smoky Roasted Cauliflower Soup with Herbed Chickpea Dumplings {Vegan; Grain-Free; Gluten-Free}

Smoky Roasted Cauliflower Soup with Herbed Chickpea Dumplings

This soup is full of surprises. For starters, if you’re not crazy about cauliflower (no worries, we can still be friends…I had a bad experience a while back and I went through a cauli-averse phase myself…so I get it), this soup might win you over. The broth is off-the-charts flavorful, and by association the cauliflower is pretty fantastic too. Another surprise, if you’re a big meat eater, you might not miss meat even a little with this hearty soup. The herbed chickpea dumplings are not only rich in fiber and protein, but they kind-of look like meatballs so your eyes might start to play tricks […]...

Cauliflower Hash + A Beautiful Experience at a Syrian Restaurant in Kuwait

DSC_2442(small)

Syrian or Lebanese?, Mike asked me late one evening, wondering what I was in the mood for. Syrian! A glimmer in my eyes, I replied instantly, already excited at the prospect. (Side Note: Something you might not know about Mike is that he was born here in Kuwait and left the country as a young child with his family to live in Syria – his mother’s homeland – after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in the early 1990s. He still has several childhood friends here.) That night, Mike and I were going out to dinner with one of his friends that he had reconnected with […]...
