Beef Brisket Recipe

April 12, 2021 by Faith Leave a Comment

This classic Beef Brisket recipe is slow cooked in the oven until it’s tender enough to fall apart. I also give easy instructions on how to make it in a slow cooker so you can prep it in the morning and come home to dinner. It makes a great Sunday supper and it’s kosher for Passover!

How to Cook Beef Brisket in the Oven

I grew up with pot roast as part of our regular dinner rotation. It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I first had brisket!…

Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls Recipe

March 22, 2021 by Faith 2 Comments

This Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls recipe is loaded with nutrition and has all the flavor of Stuffed Cabbage Rolls, but comes together in just 30 minutes and has much fewer carbs! For the longest time, cabbage just wasn’t my thing. And to be honest, I think it was mostly because of the smell. Growing up, if coleslaw was a side option I’d opt for anything else....

Vegetable Beef Guinness Casserole Topped with Champ

Vegetable Beef Guinness Casserole Recipe Topped with Champ

This easy recipe for Vegetable Beef Guinness Casserole Topped with Champ features a hearty and rich stew-like filling with a buttery mashed potato topping. It’s perfect for St. Paddy’s Day or any day you want real-food comfort food, and the leftovers are even better! Right now you’re probably wondering what the heck Champ is. Champ, my friends, is an Irish thing! Basically, it’s mashed potatoes with scallion and loads of butter. (Because we all know potatoes and butter go together like white on rice. Or, well, like potatoes and butter.)...

Pelmeni Recipe (Russian Dumplings)

February 26, 2021 by Faith 2 Comments

This Pelmeni recipe for Russian dumplings is cold-weather comfort food that features a savory meat filling, and is delicious served with sour cream and fresh dill. The first time I had Pelmeni was at a Russian restaurant called Ruz Us in Arlington, Virginia with the lovely Tara of Tara’s Multicultural Table. (Side Note: For me, one of the best things about living in the DC metro area was access to foods from so many different cultures!) After that I had them in Warsaw, Poland. I liked them so much, I started actively looking for this dish on menus!...

Low Carb Egg Roll in a Bowl (aka Keto Crack Slaw)

February 15, 2021 by Faith Leave a Comment

Low Carb Egg Roll in a Bowl (aka Crack Slaw) in Red Dish on Metal Background

Save yourself from take-out! If you miss egg rolls since going keto, this Low Carb Egg Roll in a Bowl (aka Keto Crack Slaw) will be your new favorite meal. It has all the same bells and whistles, but in stir-fry form with much fewer carbs! I know, the name Crack Slaw is a little crazy. Two things about it though: 1) I can’t take credit for naming or inventing it, and 2) it actually is addictive so it is pretty aptly named! As far as I know, the recipe comes from the Low Carb Friends Forum (which is now unfortunately closed). And it really […]...

Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff Recipe

January 1, 2021 by Faith Leave a Comment

Beef Stroganoff in White Bowl with Spoon

This Instant Pot Beef Stroganoff recipe has tender pieces of beef and egg noodles in a savory creamy sauce. It’s a quick and hearty one-pot meal in the electric pressure cooker that is sure to become a favorite family dinner! Growing up I had a few favorite dinners that my mom made from time to time. Spaghetti with meat sauce was one of them. It was as simple as spaghetti with meat sauce can be: browned meat, canned sauce, and spaghetti noodles. But it was pure bliss, especially when she made garlic bread with it....

Gluten Free Beef Meatball Recipe

April 23, 2020 by Faith 2 Comments

This Gluten Free Beef Meatball Recipe yields tender and flavorful meatballs, and it comes together easily for a delicious weeknight meal! Some meals are always saved for special occasions. Usually if it’s just my hubby and I for dinner and pasta is on the menu, I whip up a quick tomato sauce with browned ground beef. Meatballs in my house usually mean a special occasion, mostly because I typically don’t take the time to make them....

Beef Pasty Recipe

March 16, 2020 by Faith 14 Comments

Inspired by Cornish Pasties, this savory herbed Beef Pasty Recipe features meat and vegetables in a flaky, buttery crust. It’s the perfect portable meal, and surprisingly easy to make! There are some TV shows that I just don’t expect to get into. Gotham was like that for me (Batman really isn’t my thing, but oddly enough I felt compelled to not miss an episode), and Downton Abbey was as well....

I finally got to cross off a huge item on my to-do I finally got to cross off a huge item on my to-do list! Do you remember my other blog Healthy Sweet Eats? Until today, the last time I posted there was February 2020! I even had content ready, recipes developed and photographed, and I have absolutely no excuse for myself lol. 😱🙈😅

More than just wanting to get back into posting regularly there, I wanted to give that space a fresh new look! I'm pretty thrilled that today it's done (with just a couple very minor decorative tweaks I still want to make). 💗

Not only does Healthy Sweet Eats have a fresh new face, but today I shared my recipe for #sugarfree Berry Sorbet 🍓🫐🍒, which uses frozen berries and comes together in just 5 minutes for the most delicious dose of antioxidants I've ever had.

Take a peek at the redesign and let me know what you think! 😘 Find this recipe on my other blog Healthy Sweet Eats (the direct link is in my link tree in my profile) --> https://www.healthysweeteats.com/sugar-free-berry-sorbet-recipe/

This year I made a new charoset recipe for tonight This year I made a new charoset recipe for tonight’s #seder! In addition to apple, nuts, and cinnamon, it’s heavy on the apricot and I think it’s my favorite version yet. 🥰 And by that I mean it’s good enough to enjoy year-round and not just save for #passover. I will definitely be sharing the recipe on my blog soon. 😘 #chagsemeach #pesach #pesach2021 #dayenu #foodstyling #foodphotography
This really isn't the prettiest dish. 🙈 But it' This really isn't the prettiest dish. 🙈 But it's nourishing and uncomplicated, mostly cabbage and ground beef and a few other veggies along with a couple spices. It's #paleo and easy to make #lowcarb and #ketofriendly. And it doesn't need a lot of time; just 10 minutes of prep time and 20 minutes to cook. The best part is, it's so much more delicious than you might think! What it lacks in looks, it definitely makes up for in other ways. 🥰 Find my Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls recipe on @anediblemosaic --> https://www.anediblemosaic.com/unstuffed-cabbage-rolls-recipe/

These are supposed to be French Crullers, but as y These are supposed to be French Crullers, but as you can see they look nothing like they're supposed to! 🙈😁 I'd call the recipe a flop in that sense, except for 2 things: 1) they still taste great (swipe through to the last photo showing their pillow-y interior), and 2) I made them on a Zoom call together with my dear friend Evelyene (@cultureatz). Eve and I virtually met around the time we both started blogging (she lives in Montreal), which was over a decade ago (it's crazy to think how fast time flies!).

When we first met in real life last year before the pandemic hit, it was an instant connection. It was lots of laughs, local exploration, good food, great conversation, and she even brought me bagels from her hometown! She's a kindred soul. 🥰❤️ Since then we've stayed connected and have spent a few afternoons cooking together. We've made Russian dumplings called Pelmeni and we had a holiday cake-off where I made a Gingerbread Roll Cake and Eve made a Pumpkin Roll Cake.

She and I used the same recipe for French Crullers and it didn't work as expected for either of us (just wait until you see how Evelyne's turned out, they're completely different from mine!), but still I'd call it a success.

I think this delicious disaster deserves to be commemorated, so I wanted to style and photograph them. Even though the prop styling is minimal, it's an eclectic grouping:

1) Background: Scrap marble at a floor tile store in Jacksonville, Florida. The lady was awesome, she told me to look around and take any scrap tile I could use.
2) Cake stand (swipe through to see it better): I got this at my favorite ceramics store in Paris, France called @astierdevillatte in May 2015.
3) Espresso cups: Seller @madhouseceramics on @etsy.
4) Small spoons: Seller Ann Cutting from ceramicpix on @etsy.
5) Espresso: My favorite espresso @lavazzausa.
