Yield: 4 servings
Burger Mix:
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (I like to use 85-90% lean, but not leaner than that for burgers)
  • ½ small onion, grated
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak spice mix
  • 4 tablespoons smooth, natural, unsweetened peanut butter
  • 2 medium bananas, halved lengthwise and sliced into half-moons
  • 4 slices turkey or beef bacon, cooked until crisp and crumbled
  • 4 thick-cut slices of artisan bread, buttered and toasted under the broiler or on the grill
  1. Add all the burger mix ingredients into a large bowl and gently mix together with your hands, being careful not to over-mix. Divide the meat into 4 equal portions and form each into a patty. Grill or pan-fry the burgers until they’re cooked to your desired level of doneness.
  2. To assemble the burgers, place a burger on each piece of toasted bread. Top each burger with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and divide the banana slices and bacon crumbles on top.
  3. Serve.
