Until I made these cupcakes, I hadn’t fully realized the lemony flavor and scent of nutmeg. While baking, they filled the house with a sweet lemony aroma, and almost everyone who tasted them thought they were flavored with lemon or some type of citrus. I recently received a case of POM Wonderful 100% pomegranate juice from the fantastic people at POM (thank you!). I’ve been thinking about what to make with it and for some reason I just couldn’t get dark chocolate out of my mind. This is my mom’s recipe for chocolate cake…actually my mom said she got it from her mom who got it from her mom (I think every family has their own variation of this cake).
