Creamy Pasta Salad with Bacon, Peas, and Bell Peppers

August 27, 2012 by Faith 27 Comments

It seems like I blinked and now the end of summer is here. (Can I let you in on a little secret? I’m looking forward to summer ending. Fall — ahem, Autumn, which happens to be my niece’s name — is my favorite season for a million reasons, not least of which are chilly temps, cozy sweaters, and warm mulled cider, but I am also head-over-heels in love with winter. And yes, when I tell people that, the most common question I get is Really? Lol, yes, really.) With Labor Day next weekend, I know a lot of people are looking for new twists on picnic […]...

Roasted Veggie Potato Salad

June 29, 2012 by Faith 18 Comments

Last Sunday, Mike and I went to a picnic at a friend’s house on the beach. We had such a busy day on Saturday that it wasn’t until late Saturday night that I remembered I had promised to bring a potato salad. I quickly chopped a bunch of potatoes, threw them into a pot, and started to think about what kind of salad I wanted to make with them....

Vegetarian Bolognese

April 25, 2012 by Faith 27 Comments

Ouch, I think I just got a splinter in my face!, I muttered. I was not a happy camper.  I had been (quite literally) bitten in the face by the spring-cleaning bug and I was tackling that cupboard in the kitchen.  You know the cupboard I’m talking about, the one you let go for months telling yourself it really isn’t that bad.  You probably have one too…it has random pots, pans, bowls, lids that doesn’t seem to match anything, plastic containers, glass jars of all sizes (why is it that for the life of me I can’t part with a single glass jar?), all manner […]...

Healthy Packed Lunches

April 13, 2012 by Faith 16 Comments

Healthy packed lunches are easy to whip up and don’t have to be boring! There’s no avoiding packed lunches.  Most of us make them on almost a daily basis, either for ourselves, our spouses, or our kids.  I’m a big advocate of eating at home or packing a lunch rather than eating out during the week (at least most of the time), because not only does it save money, but it also makes it easier to eat healthier....

Giveaway Winner, Product Review, & Recipe for Chocolate Chip Dutch Baby with Glazed Strawberries

April 11, 2010 by Faith 39 Comments

I want to give a big thank you to all of you who participated in my recent giveaway.  It sounds like you all are very environmentally-conscious…keep up the amazing work!  I used a random number generator to determine the winner… A big congrats to Brandy of Nutmeg Nanny!  Email me your address and I’ll have your prize sent out.   Onto the product review!  I recently received a 12-inch cast iron skillet from CSN.  I like to use cast iron cookware because it can go straight from the fridge to the stovetop or the oven (or even campfire), and then straight to the table for […]...
