We all know it’s not polite to stare at people eating, but have you ever stolen a glance?

Truthfully, it’s hard not to notice the way a person eats when they’re sitting next to or across from you.

And it’s interesting, and I think you can tell a lot about someone by the way they make and eat a plate of food!…

Creamy Coleslaw with Tart Cherries, Blue Cheese, and Toasted Walnuts

August 26, 2016 by Faith 3 Comments

Creamy Coleslaw with Tart Cherries, Blue Cheese, and Toasted Walnuts is as easy to make as regular coleslaw, but with way more flavor! When Mike and I were on our honeymoon in Jordan it was my first time in the Middle East. Those were (as every honeymoon should be) lazy days, and since it was Mike’s home turf he was in charge of things like food. We ate out a lot, mostly things that are considered fast food over there like chicken shawarma, roast chicken, falafel, hummus, etc. He was a college student there at the time, so the takeout way of life was familiar […]...

Thai-Inspired Street Dogs: Grilled Hot Dogs with Peanutty Garlic, Ginger, and Cilantro Slaw

September 21, 2015 by Faith 14 Comments

These Thai-Inspired Street Dogs boast some of my favorite Thai flavors like peanut, garlic, and ginger in a tasty slaw! What could be better for topping hot dogs? I am a street food junkie, especially when I travel. I think there’s no better way to get to know the cuisine of a different culture than to jump head-first into the food the locals enjoy. (Plus street food has the added benefit of being much more affordable, which means you get to sample more…right?)...

Spicy Blue Cheese Celery Slaw

January 30, 2014 by Faith 7 Comments

Spicy Blue Cheese Celery Slaw in White Bowl on Wooden Table

Spicy Blue Cheese Celery Slaw features the crunch of celery in a creamy dressing with a punch of heat from Frank’s RedHot and the tangy flavor of blue cheese. It’s perfect served with Buffalo wings or Buffalo Chicken Burgers! When I was younger I hated celery with a purple passion, lol. As the perfect vessel for things like peanut butter, cream cheese, or French onion dip, celery is such an odd vegetable to hate on. But I wouldn’t have been caught dead munching a celery stick. Not even along with a chicken wing and blue cheese for dipping!...

Pineapple-Almond Slaw Salad

May 11, 2012 by Faith 14 Comments

The day I made this Pineapple-Almond Slaw Salad I was having my mom and sister over for lunch (built-in recipe testers are the best, aren’t they?).  This salad was so delicious (and addictive) with its crunchy texture and sweet/tart/nutty flavor that we all basically inhaled it – and were too full for the rest of lunch!...

Endive-Citrus Slaw

February 13, 2012 by Faith 32 Comments

Endive-Citrus Slaw is bursting with bright flavor and nutrition. If you want to make someone’s day, send them a package of goodies, but don’t tell them that you’re sending it. Expect an elated email or phone call from the recipient within the next couple days. Last Thursday I made a quick produce run to the grocery store (I was out of oranges to feed Mike’s addiction and spinach to feed mine) and was back within 20 minutes. When I got home there was a note stuck on the door from the UPS guy saying he had tried to make a delivery…I wasn’t even expecting anything!...

Sweet and Spicy Slaw

July 16, 2009 by Faith 15 Comments

Coleslaw is an essential component of summer barbeques, but who doesn’t get bored with the same old slaw?  This dish is perfect to serve at just about any BBQ…it can be made in ~10 minutes, its got sweet and spicy flavor components, and its vibrant colors are beautiful.  I served this slaw with grilled teriyaki salmon (see here for a homemade teriyaki recipe), and it was a perfect combination.    The day after making this slaw I sautéed up the leftovers with a handful of edamame (for ~3 minutes on the stovetop) and served it over brown rice for a quick stir fry.  (I love double-duty […]...
