Old-Fashioned Iced Oatmeal Cookies

To get the gorgeous craggy iced cookie tops, be sure to just slightly dip the tops of the cookies in icing.

Step 1

Pulse the oats. Pulse the oats 10 times in a food processor. Don’t over-pulse, we don’t want them too powdery or the cookies won’t have the right texture.

Make the dough. Stir together all ingredients for the dough, and chill for 15 minutes in the freezer.

Bake. Use a 1-tablespoon scoop to measure out the dough and scoop it onto baking trays. Bake at 350F until golden on the outside, about 10 minutes. Cool completely.

Ice the cookies. Stir together all ingredients for the icing, and lightly dip the top of each cooled cookie in the icing.
