Air Fryer Apple Crisp features a warm spiced apple filling and a buttery brown sugar streusel topping. It’s easy to make, perfect if you only need two servings, and cooks in just 20 minutes in the air fryer!
Stir together all ingredients for the filling in a medium bowl. Let it sit until the apple starts to release its liquid, about 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a separate medium bowl, stir together all ingredients for the topping until crumbly.
Divide the apple filling (including juices) between 2 (10 to 12-ounce) air fryer-safe dishes. Cover each dish with foil.
Preheat the air fryer to 350F. Air fry for 15 minutes, and then carefully remove the foil.
Divide the topping between the 2 dishes, spreading it around evenly. Place 1 pat of butter on top of each.
Return to the air fryer and air fry (uncovered) until the topping is golden, about 5 minutes more.
Serve warm.
Notes
What Type of Apple to Use: Granny Smith is my favorite type of apple to use for apple crisp. These apples keep their shape well even after cooking. Their flavor is sweet/tart, which is a nice balance to the sweet topping. However, you can use any type of sweet/tart crisp apple you like. Northern Spy, Braeburn, or Jonagold are all good options. If you use an apple that’s on the sweeter side, add 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice.
Make Ahead: You can make this apple crisp ahead of time! To do so, make it through step 4 in the recipe. After that, let the apple crisp cool and refrigerate (covered) for up to 5 days. Then when you want to serve them, the only thing you have to do is put the topping on and air fry for 5 minutes.
Apple Substitution: Instead of apples, I have successfully used peaches, pears, strawberries, and cherries (add 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice to the filling for each).
Canned Pie Filling: To save time, you can use canned pie filling. Put it into air fryer-safe dishes, top it with streusel, and air fry for 5 minutes.
