Add 4 Oreo cookies, the tea (if using), milk, and simple syrup to a blender, and blend until smooth. Strain the mixture if you want it super smooth (otherwise the filling will make it lumpy).
Add the ice to a glass, then the boba, and then the Oreo milk mixture.
Top with the whipped cream and remaining Oreo cookie.
To Make Oreo Boba Milk Tea Without a Blender: Simply add the Oreo cookies and liquids to a glass and let it sit for 1 minute. Use a fork to mash the cookies and help them dissolve in the milk (remember that the filling won’t fully dissolve in milk, even if you use a blender!).
Sweetness Level: If you're thinking this drink might be too sweet, it's surprisingly not as sweet as it might seem. When I was developing this recipe, I first made it without any added sweetener, and then with just 1 tablespoon of simple syrup. It was surprisingly bland! The final version uses 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, which was perfect.
To Make Homemade Simple Syrup:
To make about 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, combine 2 tablespoons granulated white sugar and 2 tablespoons filtered water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Bring to a boil, and then boil for 15 seconds.
Remove from the heat and cool to room temperature before using.
