3-Ingredient Frozen Yogurt Berry Bowls are packed with nutrition and healthy enough for breakfast, but decadent enough tasting for dessert.
I always love the look of smoothie bowls. Pinterest and Instagram are full of a rainbow of stunning smoothie bowl inspiration, with just about every topping you can imagine. The point is to pack as much nutrition as beautifully as possible into each bowl.
To get my smoothie bowls the consistency I like it (lusciously thick, almost like soft-serve ice cream), I like to use a combination of yogurt and frozen fruit. If you go with plain, unsweetened yogurt you may want to add a touch of your favorite sweetener (such as honey, maple, stevia, sugar, etc.), particularly if you’re using a fruit that’s not too sweet, such as berries. Here I used a flavored yogurt for simplicity’s sake, and only added a splash of vanilla for flavor.
The thing I like about using yogurt is that it makes the smoothie taste like frozen yogurt, but it’s really healthy enough for breakfast (another of my favorite healthy frozen yogurt treats is my Easy 5-Ingredient Chocolate Chunk Strawberry Frozen Yogurt over on Healthy Sweet Eats!). It feels like a splurge, making it just as great for dessert as it is breakfast! And when dessert is as delicious as it is healthy, it’s easy to keep your eating clean, right?
Do you make smoothie bowls and if so, what’s your favorite flavor?
- 1 (8 oz/227 g) container blackberry or blueberry yogurt (I used blackberry noosa)
- 2 cups frozen blackberries or blueberries (I used blueberries)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Bee pollen
- Cacao nibs
- Shredded coconut
- Pecans
- Chia seeds
- Frozen berries
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and process until smooth, tamping down as necessary. Transfer to a serving bowl, add any toppings you want, and serve immediately.
