When I was younger, I hated any and all lemon-flavored desserts with a passion. Lemon bars, lemon meltaway cookies, and even lemon meringue pie were all on my list.
(But oddly enough, I was a big fan of super sour lemon-flavored WarHeads candy – does anyone else remember those? Incidentally, I consider this proof positive that there is no rhyme or reason to kids’ tastes.) (more…)
Have I ever told you about my mom’s apple pie?
She always makes it deep-dish style (like Chicago pizza). Sometimes she’ll make it with a double crust and sometimes she’ll make it with what she calls a “French crumble topping”, and her thick apple layer is perfectly spiced and sweetened. It is hands-down the best apple pie. In the world. (Tall claim, but I’m sticking to it…but I won’t argue if you tell me the same about your mom’s pie.) (more…)
Anyone else remember Swiss Mocha-flavored soft-serve growing up? It was one of my favorite flavors, and is definitely worthy of a healthier makeover in popsicle form.

Beautiful buttery-golden pound cake, faintly flavored with vanilla and almond, is the perfect summer dessert.
It’s simple and pretty, not to mention it’s a fantastic vessel for topping with some of summer’s beautiful bounty: fresh strawberries, blueberries, peaches, apricots, or cherries. (more…)
