Ancho Chili Peach Blender BBQ Sauce is sweet and tangy with a touch of spicy heat.

Ancho Chili Peach Blender BBQ Sauce 1

I used to think that most people either fall into the creamy condiment camp (like mayo) or the sweet/tangy condiment camp (like ketchup, honey mustard, and BBQ sauce). That’s because until about five years ago when I discovered the bliss that is homemade mayo (not to mention how insanely easy it is to make), mayo just wasn’t my thing.

I’ve been converted to the mayo camp, but I can always get behind a good ketchup or BBQ too. They serve different purposes, am I right?

When it comes to BBQ sauce, I like mine to have a nice balance of sweet, heat, and tang; add fruity flavor notes like peach, and there’s just about nothing I won’t put it on. Chicken, omelets, salads, hot dogs, burgers, potatoes, and even toast are all pretty delicious with a drizzle of this sauce. I keep discovering new things to use it on.

The best part is, this sauce is incredibly easy to whip up in the blender! Everything just gets pureed together, no need to even strain it. The peaches add a nice thickness to the sauce even before it’s cooked. You could use the sauce straight out of the blender, but I like to give it a quick stint (about 20 minutes) on the stovetop to help all the flavors blend and thicken it up even more. Stash it in the fridge overnight and the next day once all the flavors have married, it’s even better. If you’re looking for an easy BBQ sauce to kick up your BBQ game, this is it!

So, are you a condiment person? And if so, what’s your favorite?

Ingredients
  • 2 dried whole ancho chile peppers, stems and seeds removed
  • 2-4 dried whole chile de árbol peppers, seeds removed (or 1 to 3 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes instead)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) boiling water
  • 2 large very ripe peaches, pitted
  • 1 large onion, peeled and halved
  • 6 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 5-6 tablespoons pure honey

  2. Add the chilies and their steeping liquid along with all other ingredients to a high-speed blender and process until completely smooth.
  3. Use as-is, or to help blend the flavors, transfer the sauce to a medium saucepan; bring up to a simmer and cook (uncovered) 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool to room temperature.
  4. Store covered in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
Paleo-Friendly Version: Omit the Worcestershire sauce or make your own homemade paleo-friendly Worcestershire sauce and use that.

  1. I love to make smoothies in my good blender. I helps our whole family consumer more fruits and veggies into our diets. I also have a very old blender that we use to mix up our homemade deer repellent for our flower gardens.

  2. My most used tool in the kitchen are my knives. I have a favorite that fits my hand just right and use it all the time and would be lost without it.

  3. I would say my favorite think to make in a blender is a milkshake. I love adding everything from coconut to m&ms to fruit.

  4. I love making smoothies in the blender. Mine is quite wimpy though and now that I have a six-month-old baby just starting to eat puréed solid foods I need a powerful blender.

  5. I currently do not have a high speed blender. I have not been able to convince my husband quite yet that it would be worth the investment. I’d LOVE to win one!

  6. My most useful kitchen tool that I use very often is my mini 2 cup Cuisinart processor. My most used is my silicone spatula that I use daily.

  9. What an amazing combination of tastes you have going on. I bet it tastes amazing. I’ve made Chili sauce for Menudo before with those chili’s and loved the aroma they gave off….this looks like a great use of the leftover chili’s I have. My favorite thing to make in the blender is Margarita’s……and salsa.

  10. I would have to say, my most used kitchen tool is a large wooden spatula. It is the best for scraping up fond and can handle heat. Always love your recipes and dialogue.

  11. This BBQ sauce sounds amazing, like something I definitely need to try. My favorite thing to make in a blender is probably açai bowls (and other smoothie bowls).

  12. I don’t have a powerful blender like this, but so far, my favorite to make are smoothies! I like to chop up fruit and freeze it, then make smoothies with milk and the frozen fruits. Yum!

  13. I just like you and this site! :)
Great recipe here for the BBQ sauce. I’m a huge fan of the sweet, heat, and tangy BBQ sauce and this is my kinda sauce. I have a trusty Vitamix, but WOW, that Wolf looks off the hook cool.

  14. My favorite thing to make in a blender right now are smoothies. It is so easy just to keep some frozen fruit in the freezer and you can whip up a smoothie in just a minute or two!

  15. Sorry if this is a repeat. It looked like my reply was missing:

My most used kitchen tool is a toss-up. My uncle left me his 15 piece set of carbon steel knives. He was journeyman butcher, something pretty rare these days. The guys at Walmart simply put the stuff in the meat cases.

  16. Our most used kitchen tool is probably our cast iron skillet. We make most of our meals on the stove top, and the cast iron is very useful.

  17. My favorite thing to make in the blender is home made orange julius. It is pretty simple to make, relatively healthy, and our kids love them.

  18. …But for as much as I love my blender, I would have to say that my favorite kitchen tool is my shiny new stand mixer. Maybe that would change if I had a better blender, though! (hint hint) ;)

  19. I’m constantly using my blender, every single day, but my current favorite use is for making banana ice cream. It’s the perfect treat for these hot days!

  20. My most used kitchen tool is a tie between my chef knife and my 8″ frying pan (no microwave so this makes it easy to heat leftovers or just cook for one)

  21. My most
Used kitchen tool would have to be my knives – I’m much more of a knife person than a food processor person. There’s something about working with the ingredients I’m using and my knives that is contemplative and even therapeutic for me.
